DeLena Thomas For Merrillville School Board
Political Social Media Campaign
The Beginning: When a close and long-time friend, DeLena Thomas, decided to run for her local School Board, we had no idea that our support for her campaign would lead us to starting our own agency. After a long conversation about what she wanted to accomplish, we developed a social media plan that drove home the most important key messages. In partnership with her goals, we laid out a comprehensive social media plan filled with a 14-week themed messaging strategy.
The Campaign: The first step was launching three social media sites with custom Cover & Profile photos on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Over the course of the campaign, we developed more than three dozen custom graphic images, posted an average of three posts daily, and ran advertisements at peak times to expand her audience. In a little over three months, we went from zero social media presence to hundreds of followers across the three channels with the most engagement and activity on Facebook.
The Results: By Election Day, in a town of just 34,000 people DeLena Thomas For Merrillville School Board amassed a following of over 450 Facebook fans, Twitter followers and Instagram fans. Perhaps even more importantly, the campaign experienced extraordinarily high engagement with our posts. Every post encouraged multiple shares, likes and comments. In the eight weeks before Election Day, our most popular post had 118 combined Likes, Shares & Comments, we had 700+ profile views and 75,000+ impressions. The social media efforts combined with DeLena’s on-the-ground campaign, led to an eventual win against an incumbent and 7,000+ votes.
